It is patched up using plain fabric in soft pastel colours 

and then sashiko stitching is added.

Modern Boro Runner Pattern

 Modern Boro is an interpretation of the Traditional Japanese Boro.

It is patched and stitched to completely cover a base fabric (Sarashi) whereas

Traditional Japanese Boro was fabric that was patched and stitched only 

where it had become worn. Modern Boro is more of an art form than a necessity.

This runner is 1.30 metres long and 35cm wide.

Sashiko Threads

I now have a much larger range of sashiko threads. 

This means I now have two weights - the thicker that I have always had 

by Olympus and some finer ones. 

The range of colours has increased a lot with these new brands.

These are finer 40m hanks $5.60 each

These threads on card are finer 40m $5.60

These on a reel are thicker 30m $9.10

PICE threads

These wonderful Japanese threads are a fine Polyester.

They come on the cutest wooden spools in traditional Japanese murky colours.

I use them for English Paper Piecing as they are strong and fine and won't 

get worn down by your card edges.

I also use them for hand applique - once again because they are fine.

There is 200 metres on each reel.

$8.00 per reel.
